Mudgee Touch wins award

Mudgee Touch Association was named the Hunter-Western Hornets Affiliate of the Year for the 2019-20 season.

The award was announced at the NSW Touch 2019-20 season awards on Saturday night (August 29). Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the NSW Touch awards were broadcast online via social media.

It has been a tremendous season for Mudgee Touch with a new executive committee led by president Payden Lawson ushering a new era for the Mudcrabs, which saw an increase of 10 per cent in player numbers for the 2019-20 season, well-established weekly summer competitions and representative teams progressing to state finals.

Mudgee Touch was nominated for the top Hornets award along with City of Orange Touch Association, Maitland Touch Association and Newcastle Touch Association.

Other Affiliate of the Year regional winners were Wagga Wagga Touch Association (Southern Suns); Taren Point Touch Association (Sydney Rebels); Balmain Junior Touch Association (Sydney Mets); Manly-Warringah Touch Association (Sydney Scorpions); Macksville Touch Association (Northern Eagles).

The six regional Affiliate of the Year winners then progressed to the State Affiliate of the Year award, which was won by Manly-Warringah Touch Association for the sixth time.
