The Mudgee Mudcrabs will head to Port Macquarie this weekend, fired up and ready to put on a great display of touch football at the annual State Cup tournament.
The club’s representative teams enjoyed great success in their respective divisions at the Country Championships in October and are looking to show the big city squads that the little clubs from the bush cannot be underestimated.
This year’s tournament will be played under strict COVID guidelines with no spectators and back-to-back-to-back games, but after experiencing this format at Country Championships, the Mudcrabs are ready for the challenges the weekend will bring.
Country Championship winners, the Women’s 30s will be looking to improve upon their fifth-placed finish at State Cup 2019.
With a tough draw in their division, they will face Cronulla, Central Coast, Maitland, Coffs Harbour, Newcastle and Manly during their round games.
A top four finish will put them through to the semi-finals.
The Mudcrabs’ mixed open will also meet some formidable opponents throughout their draw, set to meet Doyalson, Manly, Berkeley Vale, Canterbury and Northern Suburbs throughout their pool games.
The opens need to finish top two to make the Championship semi-finals.
Finishing third or fourth will place them in the second-tier plate final series.
