Mixed Divisions grand final preview

Mar 5, 2021 | Senior Touch

Who can end The Property Shop’s mortgage on the Mixed Division One title?

For the past five seasons, there has been only one name engraved on the trophy.

But unlike the previous five, this season could be different.

In what will be no doubt one of the most exciting matches to watch on Saturday, The Property Shop will defend their title against RAMP Financial Solutions.

In their first season, RAMP Financial Solutions has achieved something not many teams have been able to do – twice defeat The Property Shop and claim the Division One minor premiership.

Soaked in representative talent that includes Roy Prasad, Andrew Laurie, Zali Yeo, Grace Quinn, Jess Reynolds and David West, RAMP Financial Solutions could very well see themselves lifting the trophy come full-time.

Though there is a reason why The Property Shop have been the dominant force in the mixed division for the past half-a-decade.

They can seamlessly turn it on without skipping a beat, which they always do when it comes to big occasions.

Look for Liz Channon and Sally Harris to have a big impact, while Lachlan Hill and Toby Forrest will play a pivotal role.

The battle between the two international players Justin Gossage and Prasad has all the hallmarks of making this match a classic.

The Mixed Division One grand final will be played at 5pm.

There will be a new champion crowned in the Mixed Division Two when Complete Steel and Rural take on Tyrepower.

No strangers to each other, this will be the seventh meeting this season between the two. Both teams have won three games each with the average margin being less than two tries.

Complete Steel and Rural have won the past two head-to-head encounters while Tyrepower are coming off a hard-fought 5-4 win in the preliminary final.

In the Mixed Division Three decider, Strait Up Cranes and Loose Nutz Mixed go head-to-head.

It has been a thrilling ride for Loose Nutz Mixed who were in a battle to make the semi-finals.

Essentially, they have been playing sudden death touch for the past four matches and have come away from each occasion unscathed.

They knocked off the second-placed Oco and The Juice in the preliminary final to book their grand final spot.

For Strait Up Cranes, a title win would be the rubber stamp on their dominant season. They have only been defeated once.

Their only encounter against Loose Nutz Mixed was a 4-3 victory in November.

The Mixed Division Four grand final is the only game not to feature the minor premiers, who were dumped out of the race by Misfits 4-3.

Joining Misfits will be the second-placed Halliday’s Plumbing who won a tense preliminary final drop-off 6-5 against Rollers Australia.

Incredibly, this will be the first meeting between the two sides this season, and both sides bring in sensational form into the decider with Misfits winning 10 of their past 11 matches and Halliday’s Plumbing enjoying a nine-game unbeaten run. Picking a winner could be difficult.

The Mixed Division Two, Mixed Division Three and Mixed Division Four grand finals will be played at 4.30pm.
