Mudgee came, clawed and conquered!
For the first time in the club’s 40-year history the Mudcrabs won an NSW Touch junior state title.
The Adam Perini-coached under 12s girls team took home the trophy at the NSW Touch Junior State Cup northern conference in Dubbo on the weekend.
Mudgee defeated Northern Beaches Renegades 11-6 in Sunday’s grand final to record their names into Mudcrabs folklore.
There is one more hurdle for the Mudcrabs to overcome and that is the Junior State Cup Championship this Sunday in Tempe.
Mudgee will play Cronulla, the winners of the Under 12s girls division at the Southern Conference, in a Super Bowl style best-of-three series to determine the undisputed state champion.
Overall, the grand final victory in the under 12s capped off a wonderful weekend for the purple brigade, which saw the club six teams make finals and record 34 wins across all 10 division – two records for the club.
Joining the under 12s girls in the grand final was the Mudgee under 14s girls’ team.
However, they were well-beaten by a superb Renegades outfit 9-0.
In the Referees tent, Ben Harris was awarded the Under 18s Girls grand final.
