Mudgee geared up to host Country Champs

Mid-Western Regional Council and Mudgee Touch Football are hosting the annual NSW Touch Football Country Championships at Glen Willow Regional Sporting Complex this Saturday and Sunday.

The NSW Touch Football Country Championships is a representative event conducted by the NSW Touch Association for the purpose of Country Affiliates; the competition has been conducted for the past three decades and continues to be a great stepping-stone toward representative pathway success.

Visiting Clubs at this year’s NSW Touch Football Country Championships include; Beresfield, Canberra City, Dubbo, Leeton, Macksville, Maitland, Mudgee, Nelson Bay, Newcastle, Orange, Peninsula, Port Macquarie, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga, Wallsend and Wollongong.

NSWTA General Manager Dean Russell said, “It was a significant undertaking to bring the event to the region this year. The sport continues to have fantastic participation rates and the Western region is a popular hub for the game. This event is a warm-up to the 2023 State Cup in December. The venue itself is of the highest quality and adds further prestige to the Country Championships Event”.

It is estimated that the total number of visitors to Mudgee will be 1,200, which includes participants, officials, and spectators.
